My name is Beverly Miles. I am a wife, mother of three and a business owner/operator. My husband is a coach at an NAIA college. All my children are involved in school sports and also organized sports.
All the associated activities leave very little evening time for me and my family.
Almost every night someone has a game or a practice. My work day starts at 8 am and goes to 9pm. This makes it hard to find any time for myself and staying organized is really tough. Still, I wouldn’t trade my life with anyone and my goals are to get better at this life, make a contribution and find a little time for myself too.
In life there is always a price to pay for every choice we make. I’ve paid dearly for some bad ones (who hasn’t) and made a few good ones that have enhanced my life. I am hoping that my blog will help others avoid some pitfalls and find more of the good things life has to offer.
There are things about my life I am proud of and ones I am embarrassed for people to know. My sister has been trying to get a blog online and tells me I have to reach out so that our lives can help others. I know that I am not alone in the struggles that plague me each day, so I am going to write about the good and the bad hoping to spark some thoughts, conversation and healing for myself and others.
I know I can help people and in return people will help me. My blog will be about things I am working on to tackle my problems and hopefully make life a little better for me and others who share some of the same issues I am taking on. Some of the topics I’ll be writing about are:
Home ideas
Inspiring quotes
Decorating
Organization
Party theme ideas
Entertaining
Recipes
Fashion and style
Healthy living
Gift buying tips
How to do this all on a budgets. (were moms, so hey, what money right?)
Please feel free to comment, share your ideas and use some of mine. Together we can grow and capture more of life’s special moments.
My inspirational quote for today: (which is exactly what I needed)
I got this book from my therapist as a gift (yikes! what does that tell me about myself)
PERSPECTIVE AND WHOLENESS
If you see a whole thing, it seems that it’s always beautiful. Planets. Lives. But close up a world’s all dirt and rocks. And a day to day, life’s a hard job, and you get tired, you lose pattern.
-Ursula K. Le Guin
In doing too much, being stressed, and feeling tired, we often become embedded in the small details. It seems like we do everything we have to do-all the little things-and that’s our life. Life is hard. When it becomes hard, we lose the pattern. We lose the picture of the whole and it doesn’t seem beautiful at all. It’s all rocks and dirt.
Maybe this is what gives God the edge on us. God can always see the bigger picture and how beautiful we really are.
We can see the bigger picture, too. We can see that our children are beautiful beings as well as tasks. We can see that each little thing we do has significance. We can see that everything, but everything, is much larger than it appears and is part of a whole.
When we lose perspective and pattern, we lose the beauty in our lives as a whole.
